정교하게 설계된 리듬감으로 펼쳐지는 한 편의 발레

1960년 29살의 로제스트벤스키가 볼쇼이 극장 오케스트라를 지휘한 이 음반은 볼쇼이 전성기의 탄탄한 앙상블과 거침없는 금관의 울림으로 <호두까기 인형>의 명반으로 자리하고 있다. 이 타이틀의 다른 명반들에 비해 이 연주는 박자가 약간 느리다. 물론 첼리비다케만큼 느린 건 아니지만 이 음반의 매력은 약간 느린 박자 속에 로제스트벤스키가 설계해놓은 “리듬감”에 있다. 이미 20살 때 볼쇼이 극장에서 <호두까기 인형>을 지휘하여 발레 지휘자로서의 명성을 공고히 다진 바 있는 그는 프로페셔널 지휘자로서의 엄격함을 유감없이 발휘해 한음한음 짚어내는 약간 느린 박자에 깃든 정교하게 설계된 리듬감으로 눈 앞에 한 편의 발레를 펼쳐낸다.
