'브라보’가 멈추지 않는 테너 니콜라이 게다(Nicolai Gedda)의 실황
니콜라이 게다(1925~2017)는 스웨덴 출신이지만, 양친의 러시아 혈통을 이어받은 테너이다. 독일에서 성장한 그는 독일?러시아?이탈리아?프랑스어 등 7개 국어에 능통했고, 이는 그가 다국의 오페라를 섭렵하는 데 큰 이점으로 작용했다. 1980년 모스크바 음악원 그랜드홀의 실황으로, 구소련 전연방 라디오 텔레비전 합창단(Grand Choir of All-Union National Radio Service and Central Television Networks)과 함께 한 실황이다. 차이콥스키 ‘여섯 개의 로망스’ op.73, 라흐마니노프?글린카?그레차니노프 등 러시아의 명가곡과 민요, 그리고 유럽 지역의 민요까지 20곡이 담겼다. 수려한 ‘미성’보다는 강력한 ‘마성’으로 다가오는 목소리이며, 합창단과 어우러지면서도 뚜렷한 차별점을 만들어가는 그의 목소리는 마치 코앞에서 부르고 있는 듯한 현장감으로 더욱더 살아 숨 쉰다. 곡마다 “브라보!”를 외쳐대는 관객의 박수 소리가 현장감을 더한다.
